The Exploring of The Cities of Refuge In the Bible

Abstract

The formation of the cities of refuge had undergone development and evolution in history: altar—the levites cities—the cities of refuge, and appeared in Solomon era. Although the cities of refuge were the consequence of the religious asylum weakened by the power of the king, but the priests’role were more and important from Josiah reform. The records of the cities of refuge in the Bible was the result of unceasing evolution with the historical development, were great advance in legal history. Priest editors played an important role in the consummating of torah about the cities of refuge, but the cities of refuge did not recover to the desired state as the Bible said in the Second Temple era.
