The Dialogue between Religious Studies and Theology: A Chinese Perspective

This paper aims at presenting three distinctive religious studies / theology models in which Scheleimacher, Karl Barth and Paul Tillich are regarded as the representatives respectively, and attempts at accessing their significance in a Chinese context. Schleiermacherian model locates religious studies under the project of Theological studies; Barthian model separates both of them into two separated realm; Tillichian model locates theology under the category of religious studies. Also, these three models correspond to different religious studies program in different Chinese contexts.
